The Detroit Pistons have clearly had a disappointing season this year. After making the postseason in 2017, the Pistons have fallen short of all their expectations this year. Interestingly, this has been ironic, considering the Pistons' current lineup and the conference that they're in.

With Blake Griffin and Andre Drummond, the Pistons should definitely be able to make the postseason this year, especially in the weak Eastern Conference. Nonetheless, the Pistons haven't really had a great season, but on Wednesday night, the team and their fans had one shimmer of hope in a brilliant play by Griffin against the Toronto Raptors.

With only a few seconds left on the clock, Griffin easily converted a difficult shot to tie the game and send it into overtime. For once, the Pistons had a shot at defeating a top-tier team in the Eastern Conference. Though, even with Griffin's shot sailing straight into the rim, the Raptors would later defeat the Pistons in the overtime period.

The Pistons surely have no time to be losing games in this sort of fashion. A win on Wednesday night could have reignited their playoff hopes, especially against the best team in the Eastern Conference. Rightfully so, the Piston traded for Griffin shortly before the trade deadline, yet they are still struggling to win games.

The question remains if the Pistons can make the postseason at this point. Though, more importantly, one can argue that Detroit would struggle in the postseason if the team makes it through.

Perhaps this game is a sign that the Pistons are no longer a postseason team and should be focusing on a rebuild for the future.
