Sunday afternoon basketball had a couple of weird things happen, but one of the oddest occurred near the end of the second quarter in the Atlanta Hawks and the Detroit Pistons game. After the Pistons were called for a foul, and both teams were back walking down the court, Blake Griffin decided to throw the basketball off the back of Dennis Schroder's head. After a few words between the two, Griffin was called for a technical.

Nothing really became of the play between the two, but it was a weird play at a weird time in the game. The Hawks did end up pulling the upset in the contest, beating the Pistons 118-115. Griffin had another huge stat line putting up 23 points, seven rebound, and six assists.

After the game Griffin wasn't asked about the particular incident in the second quarter, so his comments on the situation are not known.

This isn't the first time this year that Griffin has thrown a basketball at someone and picked up a technical foul. On January 24th, when he was still with the Clippers, he was frustrated with the lack of fouls called.

Griffin picked the ball and chucked it from midcourt at the referee, and the ball ended up landing in the stands. He picked up a technical for this play too.

After the play, the cameras picked up Griffin saying “So I gotta pay money cause you can't f–cking catch.”

The Pistons hope that he has learned from these two incidents and will stop tossing the ball at players, and the referees.
