Ready for some magic in filmmaking? It sounds like Practical Magic 2 is on its way.

It's been a while (nearly 30 years!) since we saw Sandra Bullock and Nicole Kidman's portrayal of the Owens sisters. A sequel to the 1998 epic beloved film is bound to delight fans of crystals everywhere. Luckily, Variety reports that Bullock and Kidman are working on bringing witches back.

This all came to light on Monday when Warner Bros. released an Instagram post announcing the news.

“It's official! Practical Magic 2 is in development and coming soon,” the post reads. It includes clips from the original movie, with “Practical Magic 2” written across various scenes.

“Died and gone to heaven omg most excellent!!” someone else posted.

“YOU DON'T UNDERSTAND I'VE BEEN BEGGING FOR THIS my favoriteeeeee!!!!” another excited fan exclaimed.

“It's REAL!!! It's FINALLY REAL!!” wrote someone else.

The new film will have a screenplay written by Akiva Goldsman. Meanwhile, the two stars are set to produce along with Denise Di Novi.

HBO Max was trying to produce a Practical Magic spinoff series that ended nowhere, so the news of a sequel is as exciting as ever.

About Practical Magic

If you haven't seen the original film, here's a bit about it.

Log's Line puts it nicely, saying, “Practical Magic begins as a full-on fable, warning future women in the witchy Owens family that true love is a curse, and any man they fall in love with is bound to one day meet their untimely demise. But then it slightly shifts towards the more hopeful realm of fairy tales, where two orphaned sisters sent to live with their kooky Aunts are both fascinated with the idea of finding love one day, albeit in completely different ways.”

“Flash forward some years and Sally (Bullock) runs an apothecary shop after suffering a grave loss. Her sister Gillian (Kidman) migrated west, partying too much and finding lust instead of love.”

From there, Sally and Gillian use their magic to rid the evil spirit of Gillian's boyfriend before it kills them due to his abuse.

Along with Bullock and Kidman, the film stars Goran Visnjic as James, Stockard Channing as Frances Owens, Dianne West as Bridget “Jet” Owens, Aidan Quinn as Gary Hallet, Caprice Benedetti as Maria Owens, and Even Rachel Wood as Kylie Owens.

So, get those midnight margaritas ready. Practical Magic 2 is in development and on the way. No official release timeline has been announced. That's okay, though. Knowing it's returning and, according to WB, “coming soon,” we can all patiently wait a bit longer.

Meanwhile, you can watch the original film streaming on Max.
