PSG played to a disappointing 1-1 draw with Club Brugge on Wednesday in their first Champions League group stage fixture. There was lots of criticism following the game because Lionel Messi, Neymar, and Kylian Mbappe struggled to gel in the final third.

But, former Real Madrid and Liverpool striker Michael Owen had the worst take of them all. He believes that PSG is actually worse with Messi. Via the Mirror UK:

“As much as we drool over them, this PSG team with those forwards, they're all phenomenal players in their own right.

“But three together makes it weaker for me and I don't really understand why they're one of the favourites for it (the Champions League).”

“I think the English teams ( Chelsea, Liverpool, Manchester City and Man United) are far, far superior.”

Now that is bold. While it's hard to believe that PSG is actually weaker with Messi in the squad, it was certainly a poor performance. The Argentine struggled to create any real havoc in Brussels. Other than smacking the crossbar with a screaming hit, he was relatively non-existent.

Mauricio Pochettino spoke after the game and made it clear that it will take time for the superstar trio to find chemistry. After all, it was their first time playing together. PSG does remain a favorite to win Europe's most prized competition, but if they continue to falter, Owen's opinion might prove to be true.
