Psychonauts 2 developer Double Fine stated that they will include an invincibility toggle as “All People Should Be Able to Enjoy Games.”

The game studio shared this new information with gamers via Twitter. They shared the tweet right after Xbox tweeted “beating the game on the lowest difficulty is still beating the game.” A statement that's fairly true for gamers everywhere.

“If you beat Psychonauts 2 with the invincibility toggle on, you still beat P2.” Double Fine tweeted. “All people should be able to enjoy games. All ages, all possible needs. It's an ongoing and important process for our industry and a challenge we need to met [sic]. End of the day? We want you to have fun, to laugh, to experience a story that affects you. On whatever terms you want.”

They even called out those toxic gamers who think that beating a video game at a certain level is a pre-requisite for being respected in the gaming community.

In all honesty, people should be able to play games how they want to. Choice of difficulty exists for a reason. So if you're someone who just wants to enjoy Psychonauts 2 after a hard day's work, go and play. Don't listen to anyone who has the audacity of saying that you have to beat a game at the hardest difficulty. Just remember, those players are compensating for something. You aren't.

Psychonauts 2 is an upcoming platform video game developed by Double Fine and published by Xbox Game Studios. The game is planned for release on August 25, 2021 on Microsoft Windows, macOS, Linux, PlayStation 4, Xbox One and Xbox Series X/S.
