Free agent linebacker Brandon Marshall is set to meet with the Oakland Raiders this upcoming Thursday, according to Pro Football Talk.

Marshall played the following six seasons with the Denver Broncos and won a Super Bowl trophy with the team back in 2011.

The Broncos picked Marshall up after he was drafted and cut by the Jacksonville Jaguars in 2012. Marshall played in one game for the Broncos back in 2012, but started 13 games for the team the following season.

Denver has reaped the benefits of having Marshall on the team for many seasons now, but after an injury plagued 2018 campaign they appear willing to cut ties.

The Oakland Raiders are a team working on a massive rebuild, but have remained one of the league's worst defensive teams for quite some time. Although the team has made some key additions, it's likely they will suffer yet again in 2019 unless they add some valuable pieces. Brandon Marshall could help lead the charge and get the defense back in check.

Not only would the move give the Raiders a key presence, but Marshall could get a much needed fresh start.

Marshall has only played two complete seasons in his career, once in 2015 and again in 2017. His career-best tackle total was in 2014 with 113 combined and added a career-best nine pass deflections all while only playing 14 games that season.

Denver will miss his veteran presence on defense because it's unlikely at this point he reaches a new deal with the team he has nearly spent his entire career.
