The Las Vegas Raiders are not playing games. Well, sort of.

Raiders assistant Rich Bisaccia played a role tricking the players into believing head coach Jon Gruden had contracted COVID-19, per Mike Garafolo of NFL Network.

However, the “prank” was supposedly meant to illustrate the seriousness of the issue and how players must hold themselves accountable.

Training camps have begun and—while league officials remain optimistic the 2020 NFL season will proceed as planned—plenty of players and coaches are expressing concern with respect to COVID-19.

Three more players opted out of the 2020 campaign as of Wednesday afternoon, including Miami Dolphins wideout Albert Wilson as well as cornerback Marvell Tell and safety Rolan Milligan of the Indianapolis Colts.

Players and coaches alike will have to do their part to keep each other safe. The Raiders are likely to be especially wary as they prepare for the team's first season in Sin City.

Some of the Raiders' leadership is uncertain the season will happen, with owner Mark Davis leaning towards not allowing fans in the brand-new Allegiant Stadium (via Paul Gutierrez of ESPN):

“No one fan is more important to me than another, no matter if they paid for a $75,000 PSL or a $500 PSL,” Davis told ESPN.com Sunday night. “They're all Raider fans to me. My mindset today is no fans [should attend games].

“I don't even know if it's safe to play. ‘Uncertainty' is the word.”

In any case, the entire Raiders organization is proceeding with caution, and perhaps even learning some lessons along the way.

Las Vegas will be hoping to compete in a crowded AFC West after making a number of additions on the defensive side of the ball.
