The Las Vegas Raiders entered this offseason with one key need above all else: extend the contract of franchise quarterback Derek Carr. The eight-year veteran brings important leadership on top of his ability to lead the offense. He came into this offseason with one more season left on his current deal. Las Vegas needed to sign him to an extension following their surprise reemergence and playoff berth.

That mission has now been accomplished. According to NFL Network's Ian Rapoport, the Raiders have signed Carr to a three-year extension worth over $121 million. The 31-year-old will now officially be sticking around with new star wide receiver Davante Adams to lead the Raiders as they pursue the Super Bowl.

NFL Network's Mike Garafolo reports that the deal includes a no-trade clause. The extension is a pricey one for the aging quarterback but Las Vegas now has the face of the franchise locked up for the foreseeable future. Carr threw for a career-high 4,804 yards while completing 68.4 percent of his passes last season, which both ranked fifth in the NFL.

The Raiders made lots of moves this offseason as they look to capitalize on their 10-win 2021 season. They made a massive trade for Adams, who gets to team up with his longtime friend, while bolstering their defense with  Chandler Jones and extending Maxx Crosby.

Las Vegas is looking to make a run at the championship with Carr leading the way.
