The Las Vegas Raiders have agreed to a deal with Devontae Booker after they struck out on getting Frank Gore, according to Sean Cunningham of KXTV. The execution of the contract is pending a physical.

As a rookie, Booker put up a combined 877 yards but he had a problem finding carving out a role as the years went on. During the 2019 season, Booker only had two rushing attempts for nine yards. He also caught six passes for 57 yards.

The Raiders were thought to be the frontrunners for Gore's services, but he said he couldn't pass up the opportunity to be in the same backfield as Le'Veon Bell.

“I got an opportunity to get back with a good friend and a guy I respect, and I’m happy that he wanted me to be on his team … And I’m happy to be around a guy who has done some great things in this league in Le’Veon Bell. That can motivate me. And I can help out the young kid that they just drafted, La’Mical Perine.”

Gore will likely be Bell's backup, with La'Mical Perine also being part of the backfield. Gore is 36 years old, but he was still productive last year rushing 166 times for 599 yards and two touchdowns.

What type of role Booker has with the Raiders will be something to watch. The Raiders have Josh Jacobs as the starting back and they took Lynn Bowden in the third round of the 2020 NFL Draft. The hope for Booker is he will get a chance to prove that he is still productive with his new team.
