The Las Vegas Raiders recently announced the hiring of Josh McDaniels as their next head coach. McDaniels comes to Las Vegas from the New England Patriots, where he enjoyed stints from 2001-2008 and again from 2012-2021. McDaniels earned praise for his work with Tom Brady, as well as for his creativity and innovation as a play-caller. While all those qualities likely endeared McDaniels to Raiders owner Mark Davis, there may have been one more thing that happened during the interview process that sold Las Vegas on the former Patriots offensive coordinator.

New Raiders head coach Josh McDaniels reportedly admitted to owner Mark Davis that the infamous ‘Tuck Rule' play involving Tom Brady was actually a fumble. Not only will that rile up Patriots fans, but it will also make Las Vegas fans think what-could-have-been for the hundredth time.

Of course, McDaniels could have just been saying this to endear himself to both Davis and the Raiders fanbase. However, the former Patriots offensive coordinator did have a front row seat for the Raiders-Patriots game when the infamous play occurred, as he was working as an assistant for New England at the time.

If Josh McDaniels feels badly about the Tuck Rule actually being a fumble, he can make it up to Mark Davis and Raiders fans by leading Las Vegas to the promised land during his tenure as head coach.
