About a week since a report came out that the Oakland Raiders were anticipating a possible suspension for wide receiver Martavis Bryant, no punishment has yet to be meted out. But if Bryant does get suspended, it won’t be because of two particular offenses.

According to Vic Tafur of The Athletic, the Raiders wideout hasn’t been notified by the league that he’s facing discipline and that he didn’t fail or miss a drug test.

Michael Gehlken of the Las Vegas Review-Journal previously reported that the Raiders were fearful that a new Bryant suspension may be imminent. The former Steeler was suspended for the entire 2016 season after multiple violations of the league’s substance-abuse policy.

It should be noted that failing or missing a drug test aren’t the only ways to violate the substance-abuse policy. That means it is possible Bryant could still be in trouble for something else that he did or didn’t do.

Either way, the Raiders are likely hoping that no suspension befalls their new receiver, whom they spent a third-round pick to acquire from the Pittsburgh Steelers during the draft.

Oakland has high hopes for Bryant, who is expected to be a key part of the offense due to his ability to stretch the field and erupt for big plays. They’ll still have the likes of Amari Cooper and Jordy Nelson to call upon if Bryant does get suspended once again, but they will likely lose the explosive element that they brought in Bryant to provide this year.
