The big question surrounding the Oakland Raiders this NFL offseason is if they will draft a quarterback and move on from Derek Carr.

General manager Mike Mayock continues to say all the right things about the situation assuring that he thinks Carr is a franchise quarterback, but the team is still making sure that they do their due diligence and look at all options to improve the team.

“I’ve said before, . . . Derek Carr is a franchise quarterback, and we believe that,” Mayock said, via Matt Kawahara of the San Francisco Chronicle. “Beyond that, just like at any other position, we’re going to do our due diligence. If we found somebody we liked better, or thought had a bigger upside, you’ve got to do the right thing for the organization.”

Mayock also points out that Gruden is known as one of the best quarterback coaches, so that makes it even more important that they look at every avenue.

“But we love Derek. We love what he brings to the table. But like every other position, we’re going to do all of our due diligence. And I happen to work with a head coach that absolutely loves the position. And we’re always going to know about those guys.”

The big question is if the team actually has this much faith in Carr, or they are just saying this in case they don't get the quarterback they want.

The Raiders have worked out Kyler Murray and Dwayne Haskins and currently own three first-round draft picks, so if they want a quarterback, they have all the ammo to get their guy.
