Well, that didn't take long. It is now as official as it gets with the Oakland Raiders formally announcing that the AFC West franchise has signed former Cincinnati Bengals linebacker Vontaze Burfict to a one-year free agent contract.

With the longtime Bengals defender becoming just the latest player to join the Raiders this offseason, Burfict has notably become a teammate with former Pittsburgh Steelers All-Pro wide receiver Antonio Brown. Of course, Burfict and Brown have a lengthy history of playing against one another in the AFC North division as the Bengals and Steelers serve as bitter rivals.

Not only that, but Burfict even knocked Brown out cold on one occasion, which immediately led to some serious questions upon the signing becoming official on Tuesday evening. Even so, Burfict has already told local reporters that both he and Brown have a common goal and there won't be any problems in Oakland going forward.

Nonetheless, Raiders practices are sure to be a little more interesting come next season. It certainly isn't easy for someone to put a hit like this behind them — especially when they are asked to be teammates with the person who delivered such a blow…

The Raiders are looking to turn things around in a hurry while the veteran presence of both Brown and Burfict will definitely help that cause. Despite encountering a disappointing 2018-19 campaign, the Raiders could emerge as a legitimate threat in the AFC as early as next season, thanks to the team's already busy offseason.
