Remember when it looked like the Oakland Raiders were finally on the right path after over a decade of ineptitude? Well, that came to a swift end over the last two years.

Now, the Raiders are looking to rebuild completely, and they fired general manager Reggie McKenzie this past week as part of the process.

One of the top potential replacements for McKenzie appears to be Arizona Cardinals general manager Steve Keim, according to Jason La Canfora of CBS Sports.

It seems like an odd match, given the fact that the Cardinals currently own the same record as the Raiders at 3-10 and are missing the playoffs for the third straight season, but maybe Oakland is just figuring a change of scenery would do Keim some good.

Oakland is in its first year under head coach Jon Gruden, who has returned to the Bay Area for his second stint as Raiders head coach. The difference is, this go-around has not gotten off to nearly as successful of a start as his first time with the franchise.

Still, Gruden deserves a chance, even if his first season has been a complete and utter disaster. Gruden traded away star linebacker Khalil Mack to the Chicago Bears for a pair of first-round draft picks early in the year, and later, he dealt wide receiver Amari Cooper to the Dallas Cowboys for another first-rounder.

Hopefully, Gruden hits on all of those draft picks.

The Raiders have made the playoffs just once since 2003 and have put together just one winning season in that span.
