The Oakland Raiders are enjoying a fantastic opener against the Denver Broncos. However, their Monday night opener was stunted by an unfortunate and dangerous collision between two Raider players.

Gareon Conley was hit by teammate Johnathan Abram as both of them tried to get Broncos running back Royce Freeman out of bounds.

Dieter Kurtenbach shared a replay of the horrific injury involving two Raiders.

Conley fell to the ground as he was trying to drag Freeman to the ground. Abram gave Freeman a hard hit that eventually got the Bronco out of bounds. However, he wasn't able to control his body; the back of his knee hit Conley in the head.

Kurtenbach shared a different angle of the accident. The image of Conley's head suddenly going toward his body is unnatural and is sure to send shivers down anyone's spine.

This cast a pall over the game, which was won by the Raiders. Conley was one of the team's breakout players at cornerback last season, snatching three interceptions for 64 yards and a touchdown. He also made 37 tackles at corner.

However, it's not as though the Raiders can blame Johnathan Abram for the accident. The rookie from Mississippi State was eager to play some snaps and prove his worth to Jon Gruden and the entire Raider team.

“I’m ready to actually just go out there and just show my teammates and show the world what I can do,” Abram said, per Las Vegas Review-Journal's Myles Simmons. “First game Monday night in the Black Hole — it’s gonna be crazy.”

The team can only hope that Conley didn't suffer any serious injuries and can make a quick return to the rotation.
