Earlier this week, it was revealed that Los Angeles Rams wide receiver Brandin Cooks would likely be available for his team's game against the Baltimore Ravens on Sunday, and on Thursday, he took a major step toward that goal, as he cleared concussion protocol.

“To be able to come back out here with the guys and prep for another game, I don't take that for granted,” said Cooks, according to Lindsey Thiry of ESPN.com.

Cooks has not played since Week 8 when he suffered his second concussion of the season.

Obviously, suffering a pair of head injuries in such a short period of time could be enough to frighten any football player into questioning whether or not it's worth it, but Cooks said he did not even give retirement a thought and doesn't seem worried moving forward:

“Absolutely not,” said Cooks. “When it happened, that never went through my mind. Even now, it's not going through my mind.”

As for whether or not Cooks will have the fear of sustaining another concussion in the back of his mind?

“It's one of those things that I'm taking game by game,” he said. “But, no, I don't think you should be concerned, because I'm not.”

In the eight games he has played this season, Cooks has logged 27 catches for 402 yards and a touchdown.

The 26-year-old joined the Rams in April 2018 after coming over in a trade with the New England Patriots, and in his first season with the club, he hauled in 80 receptions for 1,204 yards and five scores.

Los Angeles is 6-4 on the season.
