The Los Angeles Rams are coming off a disappointing finish in the 2019 NFL season after missing the playoffs with a 9-7 record following their Super Bowl run. Quarterback Jared Goff has been among the notable players that have taken plenty of flak for their underwhelming performance.

Goff struggles have resulted in plenty of speculation regarding his status as a bonafide franchise quarterback. According to Doug Farrar of USA Today, Rams wide receiver Brandin Cooks still has no doubts:

“Absolutely. Yes, he is the guy,” Cooks said. “I mean, you talk about a guy that . . . we had so many different position changes along the offensive line last year. And for any quarterback, that is so tough. To still be able to stand in there and take the licks, it goes to show you that this guy is willing to do whatever it takes to win for his team. And at that young an age, when you have that mindset, special things happen.”

It is certainly encouraging to see Cooks coming to bat for his quarterback. Although the two may have struggled to get on the same page in the 2019 campaign, it is clear that the Rams' locker room still has the utmost confidence that he is the right man for the job.

The Rams had experienced some significant turnover with their offensive line after parting ways with two starts last offseason and their woes were magnified by the number of injuries that followed up front. Regardless, there is no denying that Goff still struggled to find his rhythm and it seemingly led to some regression last season.

All eyes will be on whether or not he is able to get the Rams' offense back on track as one of the highest-scoring groups in the league.
