Cam Akers has hinted at a possible return to the playing field at some point in this year's post-season…assuming the Rams make it there off of the heels of signing superstar wide receiver Odell Beckham Jr. The signing, which has set the Twitter and Instagram worlds ablaze today, was actually what prompted Akers to break his silence on the subject when he posted this to his Instagram story (via Dov Kleiman.)

Akers is actually not the first person to comment on the possibility that the second-year running back from Florida State might have a shot at regaining his role as the Rams starting running back come playoff time–it was actually his head coach.

For insight on the Rams' Week 10 matchup against the 49ers, listen below:

Just last month, Rams head coach Sean McVay told Jourdan Rodrique of the Athletic “You don’t want to be presumptuous, but if we are able to make the playoffs and give ourselves a chance to play after (the regular season), the expectation is that Cam would be available to play.”

If he does return to play, he will join a stacked Rams offense that already has Cooper Kupp, Robert Woods, Odell Beckham Jr, Van Jefferson, Tyler Higbee, Darrell Henderson, and Sony Michel. Wow, talk about a whole lot of theoretical firepower. The operative word there is “theoretical” as the Rams must stay healthy and in the case of Akers–get healthy– if they are to see any of this come to fruition.

The next nine weeks will be very telling, as not only do the Rams face a much tougher schedule than they did in the first half of the year, but they also have to deal with the fact that guys are getting their bodies beaten up each and every week, making every week harder to play than the last. But hey, that is why we all love football. It doesn't matter how you are playing in November, what matters is how you are playing in January. That is what the Rams are thinking about with Akers and it sounds like he is now in the same boat.
