The Los Angeles Rams are back in the Super Bowl this season, and part of it is thanks to an old head of theirs. Eric Weddle, who announced his retirement back in 2020, returned for LA's postseason run this year. He has been part of a defense that has come in clutch in multiple situations in the playoffs.

With Weddle's surprisingly strong play bolstering the Rams' defense, talks about full-time return to the NFL have been floating around. However, the safety himself shut down these rumors, saying: (via PFF)

“After this Super Bowl, I move on and go back to my old life and there will be no comebacks.”

Eric Weddle has enjoyed a long career as a premier safety. Prior to joining the Rams in 2019, he made a name for himself as one of the best secondary players in the league, earning multiple All-Pro nods with the San Diego Chargers. In his return to professional play, Weddle has played better than expected from a formerly retired player at 37 years old.

The Rams' safety position has been compromised by injuries this postseason. Jordan Fuller was ruled out due to an injury, while Taylor Rapp entered the concussion protocol earlier in the playoffs. Because of this, LA asked for Weddle's help, and he has delivered greatly for the team.

Now, Weddle has a clear shot at winning a Super Bowl ring for the first time in his career. He'll be chasing for the glory alongside Rams legend Aaron Donald, as well as Jalen Ramsey. They'll be facing a scorching-hot Cincinnati Bengals fresh off an upset win over the Kansas City Chiefs, in what is sure to be an exhilarating game.
