Dallas Cowboys quarterback Dak Prescott is set to be one of the next quarterbacks who receives a lucrative contract. Whatever Prescott attains could determine what Los Angeles Rams quarterback Jared Goff earns on his next deal.

Goff doesn't seem to be focused on Prescott's future contract, but did add that he hopes Dak can negotiate a deal that pays him handsomely, per Cameron DaSilva of Rams Wire:

“It’s great,” Goff said of seeing Prescott’s price go up. “I hope Dak gets as much as he can and good for him. I’m a friend of Dak’s and wish him nothing but the best.”

This offseason, all three of the notable quarterbacks in the 2016 NFL Draft began contract talks with their respective teams. So far, Carson Wentz has been the only one to secure his extension. The Philadelphia Eagles handed Wentz a four-year extension worth $128 million.

Because of that, Prescott's asking price seems to be more than Wentz's $32 million in annual salary. And in turn, that could increase the market for Goff to get the wealthiest quarterback contract of the trio.

For the time being, the Rams seem keen on putting Goff's deal off until next offseason. Goff is entering his fourth season with the team and is technically under contract through 2020 since the team picked up his fifth-year option this offseason.

Additionally, if it comes to it, Los Angeles could place the franchise tag on Goff for the 2021 season if a deal isn't completed. Currently, Sean McVay and Les Snead have reiterated that it's not a matter of “if” a deal gets done, it's a matter of “when.”

The Rams' franchise quarterback may say he's not paying close attention to what Dak Prescott nets on his next contract, but Jared Goff's agent will be.
