The Los Angeles Rams are 1-0. With quarterback Jared Goff and running back Todd Gurley leading the way on offense, the Rams hit the road to take on the Carolina Panthers en route to coming away with a hard-fought win to begin the season on a high note.

Even though it was a bit of a sloppy game and by no means a blowout, the Rams remained poised and strung together a well-rounded team effort in Carolina. As a result of a solid performance from the aforementioned Gurley, Goff recently came to his defense in terms of his running back's health and fantasy football status.

“He has been the same dude that you guys have seen every single day since I’ve been his teammate,” Goff told reporters after his team's Week 1 win over the Panthers, via USA TODAY Sports. “I’m so proud of him and everything he’s done. There was a lot of outside noise around him obviously, but we felt confident with him inside the team and it showed today. He looked like he always does today. I tried to tell everyone he looks exactly the same and no one wanted to believe me. I started him in fantasy this week, so he helped me out.”

Gurley produced 97 rushing yards on 14 carries while adding one catch for another four yards in the Rams' 30-27 win over the always dangerous Panthers. Despite splitting carries on Sunday afternoon in Carolina, Gurley generally performed well and most notably remained healthy throughout the NFC clash.
