The Los Angeles Rams were set to proceed with the final steps of their relocation by kicking off the 2020 NFL season at the newly-constructed SoFi Stadium. Unfortunately, it appears fans will have to wait to experience it firsthand due to the restrictions placed in response to the coronavirus (COVID-19) pandemic.

Teams around the league have announced their plans to either reduce or completely eliminate fan attendance at games this year. The Rams stated in their letter to Stadium Seat License (SSL) holders that they will also be taking such measures, via the team's official website:

The Los Angeles Rams announced that due to the COVID-19 pandemic, SoFi Stadium will be at limited or no capacity in 2020 and season tickets will not be possible for the 2020 season.

Despite the ongoing pandemic, Rams owner Stan Kroenke's vision of the $5 billion stadium is expected to be complete well before the start of the 2020 campaign. The venue is also set to serve as the home for the Los Angeles Chargers, meaning their plans for fan attendance may also be scrapped.

SSL holders will still have priority on Rams tickets if fans are allowed to attend at some point down the road. For now, they will have the option to defer their payments toward the 2021 season or receive a refund.

The league and NFLPA have made tremendous strides in their negotiations ahead of training camp. Although reports indicate that the preseason will be cancelled in its entirety, this should allow teams, including the Rams, extra time to prepare their players for the regular season under safe working conditions.
