The Los Angeles Rams are as determined as any as team in the NFL to improve their roster ahead of the 2018 season. After acquiring Marcus Peters, Aqib Talib, and Ndamukong Suh through free agency and trades, the team was expected to be in the running to land superstar wide receiver Odell Beckham Jr. from the New York Giants in a blockbuster deal.

It seemed like it was only a matter of time before Beckham would be bound for Los Angeles with the rumors surfacing of their interest in the perennial Pro Bowler. However, on Tuesday that all changed with the Rams acquiring wideout Brandin Cooks in a trade with the New England Patriots which ends their pursuit of Beckham, according to ESPN's Adam Schefter.

Although Beckham may be headed elsewhere or will simply stay in New York, the Rams have vastly improved their squad on both sides of the football this NFL offseason. The addition of Cooks is still a step in the right direction for Los Angeles as he could very well be the new number one option in the passing game for third-year quarterback, Jared Goff.

Cooks will join the likes of Robert Woods, Tyler Higbee, Cooper Kupp, and Tavon Austin in the receiving in Los Angeles. The presence of Cooks isn't a complete game changer for the Rams as the addition of Beckham would be, but it is still a sizable upgrade and makes the team that much more dangerous offensively.

With the acquisition of Cooks, the Rams brass might be done wheeling and dealing until the 2018 NFL Draft later this month on April 27th.
