The Los Angeles Rams have been linked as a team that could pursue Leonard Fournette following his departure from the Jacksonville Jaguars. Despite the reports floating around, Sean McVay seemed to nix the rumors that the Rams could add Fournette, per ESPN's Lindsey Thiry.

Not long after Fournette was waived by the Jaguars on Monday, the Rams were listed as a team that could bring in Fournette. That connection became even more discussed after Jalen Ramsey shared his support for Fournette after his release.

Besides appeasing Ramsey, bringing in Fournette makes little to no sense for the Rams. Earlier this offseason, Los Angeles released Todd Gurley due to his injury concerns and his massive contract.

Upon Gurley's exodus, the Rams are confident in the group they have, led by rookie Cam Akers. Los Angeles utilized the No. 52 pick on Akers and also spent draft capital to trade up for Darrell Henderson in the 2019 NFL Draft. Meanwhile, veteran Malcolm Brown has also proven to be capable in a limited role.

Also, the Rams don't exactly have much cap space to work with at this point in the offseason. According to OverTheCap, Los Angeles is currently $14 million over the salary cap before teams are asked to trim rosters down. Provided that, it's tough to envision the Rams making room for a position that isn't a necessity.

McVay understands that it isn't going to be easy to replace the production that Gurley has given the team in recent seasons. However, for those that believed the Rams could add Fournette, don't expect to see him suiting up in SoFi Stadium this season.
