The Los Angeles Rams have made quite a few changes to the coaching staff this offseason, and they've also made a notable move in the front office. Ahead of free agency, Sophie Luoto becomes the “highest-ranking woman” for Los Angeles' football operations.

On Wednesday, the Rams promoted Luoto to director of football operations. As a result, she will play a vital role in the team's front office moving forward.

Prior to being promoted, Luoto spent four seasons with the Rams as a manager in football operations—gradually rising up the ranks. Then, with Bruce Warwick departing, Luoto found the perfect opportunity to land a more prominent role in the organization. Warwick served as the Rams director of football operations for the last 10 seasons.

With her new role, Luoto will be in charge of directing travel to games for players and other staff members to various events. In addition, she'll also keep an eye on the team's practice facility and Los Angeles' training camp operations UC Irvine.

Even before her time in the NFL, Luoto spent time at California-Berkeley as the program's director of recruiting operations. Given that, she's had plenty of experience with a variety of roles in college or the NFL.

At just 31 years old, Luoto became the highest-ranking woman within the Rams' football operations. There's no doubt that Luoto has done a remarkable job as she's impressed the right people in the building in just a few years with the franchise.

In today's NFL, there aren't many women that hold esteemed jobs in the football operations side of an organization. However, maybe Luoto can help set the precedent for more women to work their way up the ranks in the near future.
