Former Jacksonville Jaguars running back Leonard Fournette officially became an unrestricted free agent on Monday morning as the struggling AFC South franchise elected to release the veteran rusher. With the Jaguars unable to find any suitors on the trade market, Jacksonville had no choice but to part ways with Fournette as it became pretty clear that neither side had any interest in prolonging this relationship past the 2020 campaign.

While only a free agent less than one day, it appears as though Fournette already has at least one potential suitor in mind with others surely to follow in the coming days. According to a Monday report from Michael Fabiano of Sports Illustrated, Fournette would be interested in joining the Los Angeles Rams.

Of course, the Rams currently employ another former Jaguars player as well in Pro Bowl cornerback Jalen Ramsey, who was traded from Jacksonville to Los Angeles midway through last season.

The Rams infamously decided to part ways with another prolific running back earlier in the offseason as Todd Gurley is now a member of the Atlanta Falcons. However, the Rams did manage to replace Gurley with another running back as the team selected former Florida State standout Cam Akers as a result of the 2020 NFL Draft. Even so, the Rams could use a veteran presence in the backfield like Fournette, especially since Los Angeles needs all the help it can get in the incredibly dangerous NFC West division.

Prior to Monday, Fournette had spent his entire three-year NFL playing career as a member of the Jaguars.
