Why The Rangers Will Cover The Spread/Win

The Rangers have struggled this season, partly because they cannot hit the baseball. So far, they are only 20th in batting average and 19th in on-base percentage. Texas also ranks 18th in runs, 21st in home runs, and 23rd in slugging percentage.

Marcus Semien has not been as good as he was last season. Regardless, he has good career numbers against the Orioles, batting .263 with 68 hits, 11 home runs, 38 RBIs, and 50 runs over 65 career games. Corey Seager is still a power threat. Yet, he has struggled against the Orioles, hitting .224 with 17 hits, five home runs, 15 RBIs, and 13 runs. Adolis Garcia is one of the best power hitters in the game. However, he is batting just .169 with 12 hits, one home run, seven RBIs, and six runs over 18 career games with the Orioles. Nathaniel Lowe is a pivotal hitter for the Rangers. Substantially, he is hitting .279 with 34 hits, seven home runs, 20 RBIs, and 19 runs over 31 games against the O's in his career.

The Rangers' pitching has been inconsistent, and they simply have not replicated what they did last season. Significantly, they are just 16th in team ERA. Their relievers have been atrocious again. So far, their bullpen ranks 26th in team ERA.

The Rangers will cover the spread if they clobber the baseball and not let Burnes get into a groove. Then, they need consistency from Gray.

Why The Orioles Will Cover The Spread/Win

The Orioles have dominated the majors this season, and their offense has been a significant reason for it. Amazingly, they are sixth in batting average and 13th in on-base percentage. Baltimore also ranks first in runs, home runs, and slugging percentage.

Gunnar Hendeson is an excellent leadoff hitter. Yet, he has struggled against the Rangers, batting .133 with just two hits, one home run, and one RBI over four games against them. Adley Rutschman is one of the best hitters in the game. However, he has also struggled against the O's, hitting just .216 with eight hits, one home run, one RBI, and three runs over 10 games. Anthony Santander is a power threat. Regardless, he also has struggled against the Rangers, batting .160 with 13 hits, two home runs, 10 RBIs, and five runs over 20 games against the Rangers.

Ryan Mountcastle will be a threat to clobber the baseball. But he is hitting just .162 with 11 hits, two home runs, 10 RBIs, and five runs over eight games against the Rangers. Ryan O'Hearn will look to do some damage. Ultimately, he is clipping just .222 with six hits and one run over the past 10 games against the Rangers.

The Orioles have also dominated the majors on the mound. Moreover, they are fourth in team ERA. Their relievers have been stout as well. Currently, their bullpen is eighth in team ERA.

The Orioles will cover the spread if they can batter the baseball and make Gray uncomfortable on the mound. Then, they need Burnes to dominate on the mound.

Final Rangers-Orioles Prediction & Pick

The Rangers dominated the Orioles last season, including a 3-0 sweep in the divisional round of the playoffs, ending the hopes and dreams of the Orioles. But the Rangers have struggled this season. Now, it won't get any easier against the Orioles. It also won't get any less challenging against Burnes. Overall, we believe Burnes has had one of the best seasons. He has also been exceptional at home. Moreover, the Orioles want revenge and will do everything possible to get it. The O's cover the spread.
