Jerry Stackhouse will be named the coach of the Raptors 905 soon, according to many sources. The Raptors 905 are the D-League affiliate of the Toronto Raptors, who were an expansion team last season.
The Mississauga, Ontario based team finished with a record of 15-23, and didn't qualify for the playoffs. But the roster is loaded with young talent that need some development time in the D-League before playing for the Raptors, such as Norman Powell, Delon Wright, and the 9th pick in the draft, Jakob Poetel.
With a NBA veteran at the helm of this team, they should be primed for a jump in the wins category next season.
Jerry Stackhouse was drafted 3rd overall in the 1995 draft by the Philadelphia 76ers, and played there for 3 seasons. He also played for the Detroit Pistons, where he was an 2 time All-Star and averaged 29.8 points one season as well. Then he played for the Washington Wizards, the Dallas Mavericks and played in the NBA Finals against the Miami Heat in 2006. In 2010, he played with the Milwaukee Bucks and the Miami Heat. He also played with the Atlanta Hawks where he was in the Shooting Stars contest in 2012, replacing injured teammate Joe Johnson. He ended his career with the Brooklyn Nets, in 2013.
