Former Toronto Raptors franchise player Kyle Lowry made sure he didn't leave the franchise and the city of Toronto without a proper goodbye. On Wednesday, the 35-year-old vet put out an emotional farewell message on social media as he takes his talents to South Beach to join Jimmy Butler and the rest of the Miami Heat.

“This is hard to write but time has come for the next chapter in my story to begin. But the bond I share with you is unbreakable. There's so many things I want to say about the city of Toronto, Canada as a nation,” Lowry posted on Instagram.

It was a move that every Raptors fan knew was inevitable. After spearheading the franchise to their first-ever NBA title in 2019 to dethrone the Golden State Warriors, Lowry signed a one-year contract extension which kept him in Toronto until the end of last season. And, with Lowry's and the Raptors' paths headed towards different directions, it was a matter of time that the court general would pack his bags and move on.

“Toronto will forever be my 2nd home and I will always be tied to the franchise, the city and the country of Canada which makes me so happy to say,” he added.

The Philadelphia native spent his last nine seasons with the franchise. All of his six All-Star stints came in his time with the Raptors. He's a true leader and one heck of a teammate. And, with Lowry winning a ring with the franchise, his legacy in Toronto has definitely been cemented.
