The Baltimore Ravens are pursuing a pair of long-term deals with edge-rusher Matt Judon and offensive tackle Ronnie Stanley.

Jamison Hensley of ESPN reported Ravens general manager Eric DeCosta said, “there has been dialogue with both players.”

The Ravens used the franchise tag on Judon at the start of free agency, and the initial thought was Baltimore could attempt to trade him.

This seemingly became more likely after DeCosta traded for Calais Campbell and signed former Broncos edge-rusher Derek Wolfe. Instead, it seems the team will look to keep Judon around for the long haul.

Judon had a breakout 2019 in which he posted 9.5 sacks and 33 quarterback hits to go along with four forced fumbles while also being named to the Pro Bowl.

Stanley, meanwhile, was named First Team All-Pro last season as arguably the best left tackle in football. In fact, he finished the season as the best pass blocker in football, according to Pro Football Focus.

The Ravens previously exercised their fifth-year option on Stanley, though he could soon see an enormous hike in salary. The Houston Texans signed left tackle Laremy Tunsil to a record extension towards the end of April, and Stanley might invite a similar market.

Regardless, it appears fairly clear DeCosta is intent on building a consistent winner in Baltimore. The Ravens are coming off a 14-win season, with quarterback Lamar Jackson blossoming into an MVP and the defense growing even stronger in the offseason.

Locking up both Judon and Stanley would go a long way towards ensuring consistency and stability on both sides of the football.
