Free-agent defensive tackle Gerald McCoy attended Haloti Ngata's retirement press conference with the Baltimore Ravens on Wednesday. McCoy came on his own:

The 35-year-old Ngata announced his retirement from the NFL via Instagram post on March 18:

Ngata spent nine of his 13 years in the league with the Ravens. Baltimore made him the 12th overall pick of the 2006 NFL Draft out of the University of Oregon.

Ngata was durable during his stint in Baltimore. He suited up in 135 games for the Ravens and missed just nine. The team traded him to the Detroit Lions for a fourth-round draft choice and a fifth-round selection in 2015.

After spending three seasons in Detroit, Ngata signed a one-year deal with the Philadelphia Eagles in March 2018.

Ngata concluded his NFL career with 515 tackles, 32.5 sacks, seven forced fumbles, five fumble recoveries, and five interceptions.

News of McCoy at Ngata's retirement press conference comes as a bit of a shock. Is he going to sign with the Ravens? The Tampa Bay Buccaneers released the 31-year-old McCoy on May 20, and he has been on the hunt for a new team:

McCoy has made it clear he wants to play for a contender. The Cleveland Browns, Cincinnati Bengals, and Baltimore Ravens have been mentioned as the teams most interested in his services, and now he also has a meeting set up with the Carolina Panthers.

Gerald McCoy's decision has his suitors waiting in suspense. However, his presence at Ngata's retirement press conference could be a potential teaser for Ravens fans. If he does sign with Baltimore, he should help them make a serious Super Bowl run in the 2019 NFL season.
