Baltimore Ravens cornerback Marcus Peters missed the entire 2021 season with a torn ACL and is heading into the final year of his current deal in 2022, with a salary-cap hit of over $15 million. While there were some rumors the team could potentially part ways with the All-Pro due to his hefty wages, Ravens GM Eric DeCosta quickly shut that down.

Via Jonas Shaffer of The Baltimore Sun:

I love Marcus,” DeCosta said Friday. “I talk to Marcus quite a bit. Marcus is one of these guys that, when he comes to the organization, he provides such an authentic perspective on what this game’s all about. And he’s a Raven. He’s one of these rare guys that’s played for other teams … that come in and really change the culture that you have. So I would expect Marcus to be here. I think he’s doing his rehab. I think he’s doing extremely well and I can’t wait to see him.”

Peters was one of several casualties for the Ravens prior to the '21 campaign starting and he's been recovering ever since. Despite missing all 17 games, he's been a key piece of their defense and his absence was definitely felt. The veteran CB has collected 39 takeaways, 31 interceptions, and six interceptions returned for touchdowns since 2015. That's the most by any player in the NFL during that span.

The Ravens were also without Marlon Humphrey for the last five games of the season, just adding to their injury problems. Needless to say, it's likely we'll see Marcus Peters back in Baltimore later this year.
