The Baltimore Ravens received some tragic news on Wednesday morning. Ravens outside linebacker Jaylon Ferguson has died at just 26 years old. No cause of death is known at this time. Baltimore released a heartfelt statement via their Twitter account.

“He was a kind, respectful young man with a big smile and infectious personality.”

Just awful news. Ferguson's agent, Safarrah Lawson, also released a statement, via Ian Rapoport of NFL Network.

“It’s with great sadness that we announce the passing of Baltimore Ravens LB Jaylon Ferguson. The family asks for your prayers and privacy during this trying time.”

Ferguson, who was selected with the 85th pick in the third round of the 2019 NFL Draft, was a product of Louisiana Tech. Affectionately known as ‘Sack Daddy', Ferguson earned the nickname after breaking the FBS record for the most career sacks with 48.

The 26-year-old appeared in 38 games across three seasons, tallying 4.5 sacks and 67 combined tackles for the Ravens. In a tragic twist of fate, there were many who believed that Ferguson, who showed up to offseason practices in great shape, was primed for a breakout.

The Baltimore Ravens and the Ferguson family will need everyone's thoughts and prayers as they navigate life without Jaylon.
