The Baltimore Ravens, believe it or not, have a new stalwart safety. Six-time Pro Bowler Earl Thomas agreed to join the Ravens on Tuesday, following in the footsteps of other superstar playmakers in the defensive backfield over the years like future Hall of Famer Ed Reed and Eric Weddle. Though everyone within Baltimore's locker room is no doubt glad to see Thomas take Weddle's place, one player seemed especially thrilled at that development – despite playing on the other side of the ball.
In response to Thomas' tweet implicitly acknowledging his agreement with the Ravens, franchise quarterback Lamar Jackson could barely contain his excitement.

Weddle, by the way, reached a two-year, $10 million deal with the Los Angeles Rams earlier this week. He made the Pro Bowl in all three seasons of his time in Baltimore, including last season, when he finished with 68 tackles, no interceptions, and three passes defended, numbers comfortably below recent norms.
Thomas' new contract will pay him as much as $55 million over the next four seasons. The nine-year veteran missed most of last season after suffering a broken leg in Week 4. While being carted off the field, Thomas flipped his middle finger at the Seattle Seahawks' sideline, an act of defiance in response to his longtime team refusing to meet his contractual demands last offseason.
Jackson got some more direct help on Wednesday, too. In the wake of Baltimore releasing running back Alex Collins earlier this month following his arrest, the Ravens agreed to terms on a three-year, $15 million deal with veteran runner Mark Ingram.
