The Baltimore Ravens have released former Pro Bowl running back Le'Veon Bell. Bell posted a detailed, heartfelt message following his release.

NFL Network's reporter Ian Rapoport shared some of the message from Bell.

“This hurts, but it’s been a blessing to be here to say the least, i’ve enjoyed every second of this short period & gotta whole new meaning of what this city is like & it’s a great place to be  I appreciate Eric Decasta & John Harbaugh for the opportunity to be called an Raven.”

The Baltimore Ravens acquired Le'Veon Bell a few weeks into the season. The Ravens have been dealing with running back injuries going all the way back to training camp.

Before the regular season even began, Baltimore had lost Gus Edwards to a torn ACL in camp, and then JK Dobbins also tore his ACL. That prompted the Ravens to go out and get some needed help. They brought in Latavious Murray, then signed Devonta Freeman and Le'Veon Bell in October.

Murray has been nicked up of late, having missed the last three games due to an ankle injury. That opened the door for Bell to get more work. Sadly, he was not able to produce. Bell had 31 carries for 83 yards, which is a measley 2.7 yards per carry.

Meanwhile, Freeman has found more success on the ground with 43 carries for 223 yards. The choice was pretty clear.

After looking like a Super Bowl contender for much of the season, the Ravens have come down to earth of late. They have lost two of their last three games, including an embarrassing loss to the Miami Dolphins this past Thursday.

They look to turn things around Sunday at Chicago.
