It could just be a matter of time before Robert Griffin III becomes an ex-Baltimore Ravens player, though, it also remains uncertain whether that would be the result of a trade or a roster cut.

In any case, Ian Rapoport of the NFL Network is now saying that Griffin is attracting plenty of interests from other teams who are even researching the viability of adding the former Heisman Trophy winner.

“I was skeptical about RGIII having a trade market… but teams are doing their research on him as we speak. His tape is good enough in the preseason to warrant interest. We may not have seen the last of him.”

Griffin is no longer the face of a franchise he once was with the Washington Redskins. Injuries and controversies have sent his career careening off what used to be a path to greatness. Griffin has shown he’s still got what it takes to be a productive and reliable member of a team even as a backup by stitching together a nice preseason run for the Ravens.

The Ravens, however, may not be keen on squeezing three quarterbacks to their final 53-man roster. They certainly will keep rookie signal-caller Lamar Jackson, who’ve shown flashes of brilliance in training camp and the preseason.

As for Griffin’s future, it might likely come down on what teams are willing to offer Baltimore for the 28-year-old quarterback, though, even a future third or fourth-round pick could be enough for the Ravens to pull the trigger on a trade. Worst case scenario for Griffin is that the Ravens fail to trade him and decide to leave him off their final roster.
