The recent altercation between Baltimore Ravens free safety Earl Thomas and strong safety Chuck Clark caught the attention of everyone in the team's camp. Not long after, rumors were already stirring the pot for what could be an interesting development between the Ravens and Thomas.

It was initially reported that only Thomas was sent home after the heated exchange. It could be a sign that could lead to bigger things, including talks on Thomas' contract. The former Texas Longhorn is expected to have a fully-guaranteed salary of $10 million in 2020.

Pro Football Talk has obtained a copy of his contract, and it’s clear that the guarantee for 2020 evaporates if he’s suspended by the Ravens for conduct detrimental to the team.

Cutting Thomas would eventually result in additional costs for the Ravens. A $5 million cap will be charged in 2020 and another $10 million in 2021. If the suspension remains, the Ravens would get to mitigate the 2021 cap hit by way of a $10 million credit.

The team's decision to send Thomas home may be indicative that things may have soured between the two parties. Several of his teammates were also reported to have disenchantments towards the All-Pro safety.

Performance-wise, Thomas was able to bounce back from a disappointing 2018 campaign that only saw him appear in 4 games. However, his numbers last season were still nowhere near the tally that earned him seven Pro Bowl appearances dating back to his days as a Seattle Seahawk.

The developing situation between the Ravens and Thomas is certainly something to keep an eye on for football fans.
