Ian Rapoport of the NFL Network gave the latest updates on the status of injured Baltimore Ravens running back J.K. Dobbins, who will miss the entire 2021 NFL season after suffering a torn ACL in Week 3 of the preseason.  And one of the more interesting tidbits on Rapoport's report was the possibility of veteran tailback Todd Gurley getting another look from the Ravens.

As noted by Rapoport, Gurley paid the Ravens a visit back in June, but no deal was hammered out. However, that was when the Ravens had a fully healthy backfield. This time, the Ravens must be thinking about adding depth to their stable of running backs that currently has Gus Edwards, Justice Hill, and Ty'Son Hill. Edwards is expected to take over the RB1 role while Dobbins is sidelined, while Williams has reportedly edged Hill for the RB2 slot.

Gurley, who used to be one of the best running backs in the NFL during his time with the Los Angeles Rams, most recently suited up for the Atlanta Falcons in 2020. In 15 games with the Falcons, Gurley had 678 rushing yards and nine touchdowns while averaging 3.5 yards per carry.

Losing Dobbins this close to the regular season puts a damper on the Ravens' explosive ground attack that was the best in the NFL a season ago. In 2020, the Ravens were tops in the league in rush play percentage, yards per carry, and rushing yards per game and third in rushing touchdowns per contest.
