Former Seattle Seahawks safety Earl Thomas is currently gearing up for his first season away from the Pacific Northwest. Signing a free agent contract with the Baltimore Ravens earlier in the offseason following a lengthy stint as a member of the Seahawks, Thomas now appears primed for a fresh start while recently hitting the weight room in purple and black.

Although his time in Seattle came to a tumultuous halt, the veteran defender seems likely to bounce back now that he is in Baltimore with the Ravens.

The Ravens, who notably won the AFC North title a season ago, have encountered quite the busy offseason this time around. While adding Thomas to the fold to replace fellow safety Eric Weddle, who now resides with the Los Angeles Rams, the Ravens also managed to sign former New Orleans Saints running back Mark Ingram. However, Baltimore also lost a slew of talented defenders including linebacker C.J. Mosley and pass rusher Za'Darius Smith while trading away veteran quarterback Joe Flacco as well.

Nonetheless, the Ravens must now compete with the Cleveland Browns for supremacy in the AFC North. Although the heralded Pittsburgh Steelers typically serve as the biggest threat inside the division, the up-and-coming Browns will no doubt enter the upcoming campaign as the favorites in the AFC North.

While the Ravens re-focus the team's attention around franchise quarterback Lamar Jackson, Baltimore and the aforementioned Thomas will also have to focus on Browns quarterback Baker Mayfield, who will now lead quite the potent offense in Cleveland.
