Real Madrid appeared to have grabbed a 1-0 advantage over Liverpool in the first half of the Champions League Final, however, VAR said otherwise. After reviewing the play, the video assistant referee determined the goal would not stand, much to the dismay of Real Madrid fans. Among those furious with the decision to strip Karim Benzema of his 16th Champions League goal was Philadelphia 76ers star and die-hard Madrid fan, Joel Embiid, who took to Twitter to rip the officials' decision.

Embiid is just like the rest of us, utterly baffled by VAR's decision to overturn Benzema's goal late in the first half. Of course, the Sixers star threw in the increasingly popular nickname for Liverpool, “VARpool,” as part of his rant.

Embiid is one of the biggest Real Madrid fans out there, constantly tuning into their games and celebrating their victories on Twitter. Naturally, he's fully focused on their attempt to win the club's 14th Champions League Final, and having that goal denied could be a major blow for the club.

Benzema was offisdes in the end, because Andy Robertson was the only defender behind him when Fabinho deflected the ball in his direction. Alisson had rushed into the fray and was ahead of Benzema when Fabinho's tackle put the ball at the Frenchman's feet, thus putting the Real Madrid striker in an offside position.

It was certainly a controversial call, and it took quite some time for the VAR official to figure out exactly what to call, but in the end the Real Madrid lead was taken away and Benzema's goal was denied, much to the dismay of Embiid.
