Karim Benzema stole the show in the second leg of the Real Madrid-PSG Champions League clash, hammering home a trio of goals to lift the Spanish giants into the next round of the competition. Real Madrid entered the fray on Wednesday down 1-0 in aggregate scoring, having lost the first leg of the matchup in Paris. Benzema, however, wasn't about to let his club go down without a fight, and earned a second-half hat trick, with all goals coming in the span of 20 minutes. Not only was it a remarkably fast hat trick for the 34-year-old, but Benzema is now the official oldest player in Champions League history to record a hat-trick, surpassing former Chelsea striker Olivier Giroud, per Bleacher Report.

Benzema is 17 days older than Giroud was when he netted a hat trick in Chelsea's Champions League game in December of 2020, making him the official oldest player to achieve the feat.

Despite his age, Benzema is playing some of the best soccer of his career. His hat trick against PSG is the latest in a string of dominant performances from the French international this season. Across all competitions, Benzema has slotted home 30 goals for Los Blancos, including 8 goals in 7 Champions League appearances. The veteran has been relentless in front of goal, helping lead Real Madrid to the top of La Liga, as well as into the latter stages of the Champions League.

His future with the club remains unclear amid links to Kylian Mbappe, but Benzema has done nothing but boost his value to the club with each goal.
