Retired NFL wide receiver Plaxico Burress took to Twitter on Wednesday to take aim at former New York Jets teammate Mark Sanchez.

Sanchez is now officially the starting quarterback for the Washington Redskins after both Alex Smith and Colt McCoy have suffered broken legs in recent weeks.

The veteran quarterback entered Monday night's game against the Philadelphia Eagles after McCoy's injury, and Sanchez proceeded to go 13 of 21 for 100 yards while throwing one interception.

But apparently, Burress isn't a believer in Sanchez's ability to lead the Redskins to success this season.

Of course, Burress isn't the first person to troll Sanchez, and he probably won't be the last.

Even ESPN's Adam Schefter got in on the action when Sanchez came into the game against the Eagles, and there have been plenty of ‘butt fumble' and ‘Sanchise' comments on social media.

But it's clear that Burress isn't too fond of his former Jets teammate after both played together with the franchise back in 2011.

However, since this is Twitter we're talking about, people were quick to remind Burress about one of his not-so-great moments from his career.

Burress accidentally shot himself in the leg back in 2008 while at a Manhattan nightclub, and the replies to his Sanchez bashing have been more than happy to bring up that unfortunate incident.

Sanchez will try to keep the Redskins in the playoff race when the team returns to the field on Sunday to take on the New York Giants.
