The Washington Football Team enjoyed an entertaining and incredible Week 1. Down 17-0 early against the Philadelphia Eagles, they scored 27 unanswered points to win the game 27-17.

At halftime, Washington found themselves in a 17-7 hole. But that was not the only developing situation at halftime. Head coach Ron Rivera is currently batting cancer. According to Adam Schefter of ESPN, during the intermission he underwent IV treatment.

This is just incredible. It's one of those stories that will have everyone rooting for Rivera to succeed, not just Washington fans.

Now, this was apparently not an emergency IV or anything. According to Nicki Jhabvala of the Washington Post, this was a planned IV.

Rivera was just being safe. That's a smart move and one we'll likely see him doing a lot. Why not be as safe as possible in a situation like this?

Of course, that just makes this all a little more crazy. During a pandemic, Washington has a coach with cancer who is still coaching while getting IVs at halftime. Insanity.

Rivera has always been known for his toughness. He's once again continuing to prove that he will lay down for no one or nothing. Washington has a lead-by-example coach right now, and he's clearly showing his players they need to fight.

Yes, Washington's comeback win was surprising and awesome. However, it clearly ended up not being the story of the day for the team.

Quarterback Dwayne Haskins looked solid, and the defense looked incredible. That front seven is one of the scariest groups in the league, and have unlimited potential. Superstar rookie Chase Young announced his presence with 1.5 sacks and a forced fumble that sealed the game.

But it is Rivera that deserves all the love and recognition right now. Not only is he helping to turn around a franchise, but he's doing it while kicking cancer's ass.
