The Washington Redskins continue to try and bolster their defense this offseason.

First they signed free agent cornerback Kendall Fuller to a big four-year deal. Then they scooped up linebacker Kevin Pierre-Louis on a one-year contract.

Now, they've added someone to their safety ranks.

According to Adam Schefter of ESPN, the Redskins have agreed to a one-year deal with Sean Davis that could be worth up to $5-million.

Davis spent the first four seasons of his career with the Pittsburgh Steelers. And was once one of the most promising young safeties in the NFL.

However, he appeared in just one game last season, which has severely lowered the hype for him.

That's great news for the Redskins though. As they just got a safety who could give them top-tier talent at an extremely cheap price.

In 2017, Davis racked up 92 tackles (seven for loss) to go along with one sack. He also had three interceptions, eight pass deflections and one forced fumble in 16 games.

Then in 2018, he appeared in 15 games. That year, his numbers decreased a little, but the production was still high. Davis had 80 tackles, one interception and seven pass deflections.

Those are still numbers that Washington will gladly welcome to the team.

Davis has had some issues with his play on the field, but for the most part, he was a solid performer who is still at an early part of his career.

A change of scenery could certainly help and maybe the Redskins will be getting the very best form of him.

If things don't work out though, a one-year deal worth up to just $5-million won't hurt them.

This was very much a low-risk, high-reward signing. And it's one that Redskins fans should be very happy with.
