The Minnesota Timberwolves had an amazing summer. They brought in All-Star forward Jimmy Butler through a trade and added other pieces through free agency. Most notably, they signed guards Jeff Teague and Jamal Crawford, and forward Taj Gibson. However, it seems like the Wolves are not yet done.

The Wolves are now, per Tim McMahon from ESPN, interested in free agent guard Tony Allen. Allen is an amazing defender with limited offensive skills, even though he averaged a solid 9.1 points per game. His defense is on an elite level and that is what head coach Tom Thibodeau is looking for.

Allen and Thibodeau have history together. They won the 2008 NBA championship together in Boston, where Thibodeau was the assistant coach.

However, the head coach of that Celtics team is also very interested in the defensive phenom. Earlier reports said that the Los Angeles Clippers, coached by Doc Rivers, were also interested in the guard who last played for the Memphis Grizzlies.

The talks between the Grizzlies and Allen reportedly broke down because Allen was only offered the veterans minimum. However, with the cap space of both Wolves and Clippers being severely limited, it remains to be seen what exactly can they offer to the All-Defensive guard.
