Golden State Warriors forward Draymond Green has reached a plea deal agreement in the assault case in which he allegedly slapped a Michigan State University football player earlier this month.

The agreement will allow Green to avoid jail time and reduce the charges he faced.

Reporting from Christopher Haxel of the Lansing State Journal:

“Green will pay a $500 fine and $60 restitution fee. He had faced a charge of misdemeanor assault or misdemeanor assault and battery. A noise violation is a civil infraction.

“Assistant city prosecutor David Meyers said the deal involves neither a guilty nor a no contest plea, since the infraction is not a criminal charge.”

Reports earlier suggested that there wouldn't be anymore progression with this case until after the Olympics in Rio, where Green will play for Team USA. Green's ability to represent Team USA was somewhat in question with this case, so it's no surprise that Green and his legal team worked quickly toward a resolution.

Green may not have any contact with the football player, Jermaine Edmondson, for one year as part of the plea deal:

“The plea agreement reached with Mr. Green is in accordance with our normal plea bargain procedures and guidelines for a case with similar circumstances, evidence and witness statements,” Meyers said. “We simply treated Mr. Green no differently than any other defendant that we prosecute.”
