Basketball coach Rick Pitino, who is considered one of the best coaches in the college ranks, revealed that he couldn't get an interview from NBA teams.

Pitino just released a book entitled, “Pitino: My Story,” where he detailed things about his life, including the controversies which led to his firing from Louisville last year. He admitted that after his dismissal from the NCAA team which he led to several Final Four appearances, he couldn't get an interview with NBA teams for a coaching position. As reported by Jeff Greer of the Louisville Courier Journal:

“Since leaving Louisville, my agent has reached out when NBA openings have surfaced,” Rick Pitino wrote. “We couldn't even get an interview. I can't blame the general managers who turned me down. Louisville fired me so abruptly, it instantly created the impression that I must be guilty of something.”

However, after a long stretch of looking for another coaching post, Pitino seems to be bent on making a career change. In an interview with the Louisville Courier Journal, he said that he's not considering coaching anymore but will focus on motivating younger people, help out in basketball programs and the like:

“I’m not considering coaching, period,” he said.

“All I'm interested in doing right now is motivating young athletes and programs and coaches, try to help them out,” Pitino said, “and try to stay active in the game in that way.”
