Ireland's Rory McIlroy doesn't seem too enthused to be taking part in the 2020 Tokyo Olympics, but he's doing it anyway after skipping the 2016 Summer Games in Rio de Janeiro. McIlory will be competing alongside fellow Irishman Shane Lowry.

McIlroy said he's not really looking forward to the Olympics and that he's “not a very patriotic guy,” according to Express' Josh Lees. Still, he thinks “it's the right thing to do” for the game of golf.

Rory McIlroy pulled out of those 2016 Olympics due to an outbreak of the Zika virus. While the COVID-19 pandemic is still ongoing, McIlroy is going to stick this one out in Tokyo.

The four-time major winner is coming off a t-48th finish at The Open Championship at Royal St. George's, which was definitely a disappointment. It was been a somewhat disappointing season for Rory McIlroy, as he's down to No. 15 in the World Golf Ranking after ending the 2020 campaign at No. 4. He's at No. 24 on the PGA Tour money list for the season, with one win to his name.

While McIlroy may not be all that excited about playing in the Olympics, he's still surely hoping he can put forth a strong effort for his country instead of totally flopping in his Summer Games debut.
