Manchester United may have already decided on what to do with Jesse Lingard in the upcoming transfer window.

Since returning to Manchester United from his successful loan spell at West Ham United, Jesse Lingard has often been a subject of transfer rumors. Heading into the January transfer window, the midfielder's situation has not changed one bit.

The Red Devils are “not expecting” Jesse Lingard, who has six months left in his current deal with the club, to depart in the winter. Instead, Manchester United “would prefer” to cash in on the England winger for a certain fee than risk losing him for nothing at the end of the season, according to Manchester Evening News.

The report added that Lingard is being linked to a permanent return to West Ham but the player is currently planning on seeing how he' s season will play out with Manchester United.

Current Manchester United interim manager Ralf Rangnick had pointed out early on that he's still trying to know more about his players and everyone has a fair chance to prove themselves.

“Everyone has the chance to perform and present himself,” Rangnick said after his first game as Manchester United manager via The Sun. “That is why I am happy to give game time to quite a few of those players to see them under pressure in a Champions League game in front of 75,000 in a sold-out stadium.”

“This is a perfect opportunity to get to know the players,” he continued. “With every training session, every opportunity to see them in competitive games, I will get to know them better.”
