New Orleans Saints quarterback Drew Brees is expected to play his final game against the Carolina Panthers in Week 17 and ultimately hang his cleats by the end of the 2020 NFL season, via Twitter. After concluding his 20-year playing career, the 41-year-old is likely to appear on air after inking a broadcasting deal with NBC back in April.
The leaguewide expectation is that #Saints QB Drew Brees will officially retire after the season is over, per @AdamSchefter. Brees signed a broadcasting deal with NBC in April, and after going through a season that included 11 fractured ribs, Brees is likely done playing.

Brees looked like he still had a lot left in his tank in the early stages of the season where he led the team to a 7-2 record. He eventually suffered 11 fractured ribs and a collapsed lung in their Week 10 tilt against the San Francisco 49ers that sidelined him for a handful of games.
Saints head coach Sean Payton eventually slotted backup quarterback Taysom Hill under center in lieu of his absence. With the versatile player handling the playmaking duties, the Saints still continued their good showing with a 3-1 record through the four-game stretch.
Brees eventually made his way back to the starting lineup in their Week 15 encounter against the Kansas City Chiefs where they narrowly lost on a 32-29 defeat. The team managed to bounce back in their ensuing matchup against the Minnesota Vikings led by running back Alvin Kamara's six touchdowns en route to a 52-33 victory.
Heading to the final week of the regular season, the Saints are currently holding an 11-4 record. They can still snag the top spot in the NFC Bracket if they win over the Panthers, a Green Bay Packers loss against the Chicago Bears, and a victory by the Seattle Seahawks at the expense of the San Francisco 49ers.
The veteran will look to have one final run in the upcoming playoffs for a bid to snag the second Super Bowl title of his career. After garnering a stacked resume highlighted by 13 Pro Bowl appearances and a Super Bowl XLIV MVP, Drew Brees will certainly go down in history as one of the best to ever play the game of football.
